NZS 3910: 2003
In July 2013 TBS Remcon was awarded the contract to work in conjunction with Peddle Thorpe Architects to remediate Argent Hall located in Auckland City.
This project was a high-rise leaky apartment building made up of ten levels and 107 apartments.
The scope consisted of:
- Installing new timber framing
- Remediating the existing glassfibre reinforced concrete (GRC) panels and support steelwork.
- Strip out and replacement of all sealants from the façade joints between the GRC.
Window openings had to be prepared to receive new windows and balcony doors. The structure required new rain screen covers for all sealant joints, windows and plasterboard linings to be installed.
Fixing the rain screens over the sealant joints proved to be extremely complex as the vertical and horizontal alignments of the GRC with the façade were different in width.
These screens were made up of two main components that were pre-manufactured to modular sizes and then had to be altered on site due to the as-built conditions the team were required to work with.
