TBS has had a permanent presence at the Marsden Point site since 2007 providing a range of protective coatings and refractory maintenance services to the client.
In early 2014, Refining New Zealand entered into a 5 year maintenance contract with TBS Group to provide an expanded service offering for the maintenance of its assets, including:
- Protective coatings,
- Refractory maintenance,
- Labouring; and
- Industrial cleaning services i.e UHP water jetting.
The current contract engages a permanent workforce of approximately 45 full time equivalent tradestaff, engineers and site based management personnel and these numbers can swell to over 100 during busy plant shutdown periods.
TBS’ protective coatings tradesmen utilise a wide range of different products and application techniques to blast and coat Refining New Zealand’s pipework, structures, vessels and tanks. Some examples include thermal metal spray (arc and flamespray) and plural systems, among others.
TBS’ industrial cleaning team undertake a range of services utilising their three 3A rated vacuum trucks and several waterblasting pumps of various flow and pressure of up to 36,000 psi. Some of these services include:
- Heat exchanger bundle cleaning,
- Hydrocarbon vacuuming and transport; and
- Hydrocarbon tank and vessel cleaning to provide a gas free environment.
TBS’ refractory business is often on-site undertaking a range of refractory services. In addition to the ongoing maintenance services TBS provides to Refining New Zealand, we also have a team of 8 full time tradestaff providing on site protective coatings services to the Te Mahi Hou expansion project.
